Playing in the confines of their home field, the Cerritos College men's soccer team recorded a 4-0 shutout win over ECC Compton Center on Friday in a South Coast Conference game. The win improved the Falcons to 6-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play. The team will now travel to El Camino College on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. conference contest.

It didn't take long for Cerritos to get on the scoreboard, with sophomore Dominic Escobar (Roosevelt HS) making a great run down the sideline in the eighth minute and sent a crossing pass to freshman Jose Rivera (Torrance HS). Not losing a step, Rivera sent a one-touch pass to freshman Nicholas Escalante (California HS), who buried the ball into the back of the net. A little more than 10 minutes later, sophomore Oscar Enriquez (Cabrillo HS) patiently dribbled the ball up the field, where he found a streaking Escalante, who scored for a 2-0 lead.

Early in the second half, the Falcons went up, 3-0 when sophomore Carlos Escobar (Roosevelt HS) split the defense with a great pass to Rivera for a goal, with Rivera assisting on the fourth goal later in the half. With pressure on him, Rivera sent a pass to sophomore Gerardo Soto (Salesian HS), who buried a shot from 40 yards out for a spectacular goal.

The offensive output was plenty for freshman Benito Gonzalez (Long Beach Wilson HS), who picked up his first collegiate win and shutout.
