The Cerritos College men's soccer team received a pair of goals from sophomore Thiago Lusardi (Centro Educational Ramos, Brazil HS) to help propel them to a 3-1 South Coast Conference win at East Los Angeles College on Friday. The victory improves the Falcons overall record to 8-2-1, while their 4-0-0 SCC mark keeps them in first place in the hotly contested SCC. The team will now host Long Beach City College (3-4-4, 0-3-1) in a conference game at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The scoring started in the 25th minute on Lusardi's 10th goal of the season on a nice feed from freshman Edward Robles (Annenberg HS). Once again, Robles played a part in a crucial Falcon goal, as he helped give the team a 2-0 lead in the 60th minute when freshman Christian Zuniga (Montebello HS) finished the play with a goal.

After the Huskies scored on a rebound off a corner kick in the 70th minute against freshman goalkeeper Thomas Yeandle (Orange Lutheran HS), Cerritos regained their two-goal advantage 10 minutes later. Lusardi headed home a set piece pass from freshman Ricardo Covarrubias (Elizabeth Learning Center HS) for his 11th goal on the season.

"I thought our guys played extremely well," said head coach Benny Artiaga. "It's not easy playing on artificial turf, and especially at East LA. But I think our guys prepared well all week and are extremely focused right now."
