With their season slowly slipping through their hands, the Cerritos College men's soccer team suffered another crucial blow, as they dropped a 1-0 decision to rival Mt. San Antonio College on Friday night. The Falcons (4-10-3, 4-5-1) have lost their last five South Coast Conference games after going unbeaten in their first five. They have slipped into fourth place with four four regular season games remaining. They will play three of those at home, starting with a 3:00 p.m. match against Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday.
In the loss to the first place Mounties, Cerritos was shut out for the fifth time this season and second time during their current slide. They have only scored six goals in the last five games and are looking for the offensive output they had against East Los Angeles (5-1 win) prior to the start of their struggles.
The Mounties scored the game's lone goal in the 10th minute, with the Falcons spending the next 80 minutes clawing and fighting for the equalizer. They recorded six shots on goal, with five players getting at least one shot on net. Sophomore Christian Carrillo (Katella HS), the conference's Offensive Player of the Year last season, recorded two of those shots.
