Jaime Sanchez signs NLI with Cal State Los Angeles

Jaime Sanchez, a member of the Cerritos College men's soccer state championship team in 2014, has signed a National Letter of Intent with Cal State Los Angeles. Sanchez was the Falcons starting goalkeeper in his sophomore season and started 17 games. He posted a 4-10-2 record with a 2.42 goals against average and 71 saves. He is the second player from this past season to sign with a four-year school, joining Christian Carrillo, who signed with UC Irvine.

Jaime Sanchez, along with head coach Benny Artiaga, signed a NLI with Cal State Los Angeles Sanchez will have a chance to earn a starting role with the Eagles, who went 12-5-3 last season, but saw their season end with a 1-0 loss to Cal Poly Pomona in the NCAA West Region Semifinals.

"I'm really proud of Jaime, he's a player that paid his dues for us," said head coach Benny Artiaga. "He patiently waited his turn and took full advantage when he got the opportunity to start. I think he will do very well because he's a smart player and has great head on his shoulders."

As a sophomore, Sanchez experienced a pair of two-game winning streaks and earned his lone shutout of the season against Pasadena City College. It also turned out to be his final appearance of the year. During his freshman season, Sanchez saw action in three games and made two starts and earned a pair of wins. He shared playing time in a 1-0 shutout of Pasadena City and played a great game in a 2-1 loss to Taft College, making eight saves.
