In their first South Coast Conference match of the season, the Cerritos College men's tennis team needed just over an hour to defeat host Victor Valley College, 9-0. The Falcons (5-1, 1-0), conference champions the last three seasons in a row and eight of the last 10 years, will now travel south to take on San Diego Mesa College in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

Five of the team's regular players took the day off against the Rams. But there was no drop-off in execution, as the Falcons surrendered just three games in singles and three more in doubles play.

Taking over the #1 singles position for the day was sophomore Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia), who was one of four players that recorded 6-0, 6-0 scores. Joining him were sophomores Edgar Munoz (Paramount HS) and David Evans (Long Beach Wilson HS), as well as freshman Kyle Konishi (Mayfair HS). Freshman Eliot Dota (Paris, France) posted a 6-0, 6-1 score, while freshman Derik Dizon (Mayfair HS) recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory. It marked the first singles match of the season for Dizon.

Doubles was more of the same, with Dota and Konishi coming away with an 8-0 win, with Antoniuk and Munoz teaming up for an 8-1 victory. Dizon joined Evans in his first doubles match of the year and won, 8-2.
