For the fourth year in a row and ninth time in the last 12 seasons, the Cerritos College men's tennis team has clinched the South Coast Conference championship. The Falcons (22-3, 8-0) completed their undefeated conference season with a 9-0 win over host College of the Desert on Thursday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon, they will be confirmed as the #2-seeded team for the upcoming Southern California Regional Team Playoffs and will host a first round match on April 5.

Led by three doubles wins, Cerritos went on to post five straight set victories, with four of them combining to drop only two total games. In the #3 position, sophomore Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) and freshman Kyle Konishi (Mayfair HS), playing at #5, both won their matches 6-0, 6-0. The duo of sophomores Edgar Munoz (Paramount HS) and David Evans (Long Beach Wilson HS) earned 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 wins, respectively.

Most of the regular singles players were given the day off, which allowed sophomore Agustin Lombardi (E.S.D.S., Argentina) to play in the #1 position, where he posted a 6-3, 6-3 win. Freshman Eliot Dota (Paris, France) needed three sets in the #2 match to earn a win, as he came back to defeat Jacob Bohn, 4-6, 6-0, 10-8.

Dota and Munoz swept their doubles match, 8-0, with Konishi teaming with freshman Derik Dizon (Mayfair HS) for an 8-2 win. The top doubles team of freshman Aleks Trifunovic (Katrinelunds Gymnasium, Sweden) and James Zhang (Shenzhen Luohu Foreign Language School, China) were pushed to the limit, but came away with an 8-6 win.
