On Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team compiled 97 team points to come in fourth place at the South Coast Conference Championships. Running the 4-mile race at Legg Lake Park in Whittier, the Falcons trailed Mt. San Antonio College (17 points), El Camino College (64) and Pasadena City College (86). The team will now compete in the Southern California Championships next Friday at Irvine Regional Park. It was the location of the SoCal Preview Meet earlier in the season, where Cerritos came in 12th place.

Leading the Falcons on the day was Carlos Mendoza (Highland HS), who came in 13th place out of 88 runners on the day, and recorded a time of 20:44.0, while Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) was not too far behind to come in 23th place with a clocking of 21:05.1. The next three Cerritos runners finished within eight seconds of each other to round out the team scoring. Jhamani Long (Gahr HS) came in 34th place overall with his time of 21:46.0, with teammate Faustino Diaz (Warren HS) right behind him in 21:49.0 to finish in 35th place. Taking 39th place was Cristhian Macias (Gardena HS), whose time of 21:54.0 earned him 39th place.

Also running for Cerritos on the day were the remainder of the roster consisting of Mario Pulido (Whittier HS; 49th place; 22:33.0), Erick Ayala (Downey HS; 50th place; 22:37.0), Christian Lopez (California HS; 56th place; 22:49.0), Anthony Lopez (Downey HS; 59th place; 23:03.0), Ricardo Cano Sanchez (Schurr HS; 62nd place; 23:07.0), Leonel Ponton (Bellflower HS; 68th place; 23:51.0), Steven Anker (Gahr HS; 72nd place; 24:09.0), Flavio Pina (Schurr HS; 76th place; 24:19.0), James Penn (Mayfair HS; 77th place; 24:22.0) and Jesus Mata (Western HS; 80th place; 24:45.0).
