On the heels of their first conference championship since the 2009-10 season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team has been seeded #16 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (20-10) will be hosting #17-seeded Citrus College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round. The winner advances to the second round and will travel to #1-seeded Moorpark College for a 7:00 p.m. game on Saturday.

This will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the 1997-98 season, with the Falcons holding an all-time lead in the series, 13-4. The Owns (17-10) finished in second place in the Western State Conference East Division. On the year, Cerritos went 3-8 against teams that qualified for the postseason, while Citrus went 2-8, including a pair of losses to the top-seeded Raiders.

Entering the postseason riding an eight-game winning streak, the Falcons are led by sophomore twins Jesenia Rendon (Carson HS) and Serena Rendon (Carson HS), with Jesenia tied for ninth in the state in scoring (20.0), while Serena averages 15.6 points per game. Freshman Sarah Hernandez (St. Paul HS) has picked up the scoring pace and averages 6.9 on the season along with 5.4 rebounds, with sophomore Jessica Gomez (Legacy HS) accounting for 6.1 points per game. Serena Rendon is also seventh in the state in three-pointers made (83), with Jesenia Rendon converting 62 from three-point range.

As for the Owls, they are led by Kyannie Brown (17.5 ppg, 9.0 rebounds per game) and Diana Navarro (13.0 ppg), Keely Wall turns in 9.4 points a game and a trio of players average at least six points a game. Navarro also ranks fifth in the state with an 82.4 free throw percentage.
