In the consolation game of the Crossover Challenge White Bracket, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was unable to hold off West Los Angeles College on Friday and dropped an 80-64 decision. The Falcons (11-9), who are 1-4 in their last five games, will look to get back on track after a 12-day break. The team will open South Coast Conference South Division play on January 23 when they travel to Long Beach City College for a 7:00 p.m. game.

The game started off well for Cerritos, who held a 14-6 lead after the first quarter, and were tied at 30-30 at intermission. But in the second half, the Wildcats (14-8) started to pull away, thanks to the inside presence of Ihana Alono, who scored 13 of her 25 points during that 10-minute period. Consecutive three-pointers from Heyavin Johnson and Tricia Delph put West LA in front, 41-34, while the Falcons would end up fighting to stay within 10 points the rest of the game.

Sophomore Serena Rendon (Carson HS) tried to get the team back into the game in the fourth quarter, as she drained a pair of three-pointers. But her 22 points and six rebounds weren't enough, with the Falcons shooting just 39% from the field on the night. Twin sister Jesenia Rendon (Carson HS) adding 16 points, four rebounds and three assists before fouling out, while the trio of Carolina Cuevas (Legacy HS), Mariah Lora (Warren HS) and Renisha Billups (Warren HS) each contributed six points. It wasn't enough to counter the 1-2 punch of Delph (27 points) and Alono (25 points, 10 rebounds), which Johnson finishing with 16 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals.
