After finishing in second place in the South Coast Conference South Division, the Cerritos College women's basketball team has been seeded #21 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (14-14) will be heading to Ventura College on Wednesday night to take on Pirates (19-8), the third place finisher in the Western State Conference North Division. The winner will travel to face #5-seeded Cypress College, who receives a first round bye.

This marks the third time the two teams have faced each other in the postseason, with Ventura recording a 70-52 win the last time they played each other in the postseason, which came in the second round during the 1994-95 season. The Pirates hold a 9-2 all-time series lead, with their last meeting being a 64-52 Falcons win in the Orange Coast Christmas Tournament during the 2017-18 season.

The Falcons have been led by freshman guard Bridgette McIntyre (St. Anthony HS), who averages 13.7 points a game, while the trio of sophomores Ashley Miller (Paramount HS) and Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS), along with freshman Damarie Saldivar (Paramount HS) all account for eight points a game. Freshman Akayla Burton (El Segundo HS) paces the Falcons on the boards with 6.5 a game, while Flores is right behind at 5.9 a game. Mcintyre is also an outside shooting threat, as she has connected on 47 three-pointers and leads the team with an 80.4 free throw shooting percentage.

As for the Pirates, who have won seven CCCAA State Chanmpionships in their history, with the last in 2014, they have three players who average double figure scoring. Kylie Gallick leads Ventura with a 16.2 scoring average, while Kenya Edelhart (13.8) and Sofia Torres-Reyes (12.9) are also scoring threats. Gallick is also a force on the boards, as she pulls down an average of 13.9 a game, which ranks fourth in the state.
