W. Basketball: Cerritos has four earn all-conference recognition

A quartet of Cerritos College women's basketball players earned All-South Coast Conference South Division recognition, which included two being named 1st Team. Sophomore guard Ashley Miller (Paramount HS), who was a 2nd Team selection as a freshman, was named 1st Team this season along with freshman guard Bridgette McIntyre (St. Anthony HS). Freshman guard Damarie Saldivar (Paramount HS) was voted the conference's Freshman of the Year, while sophomore forward Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS) earned 2nd Team honors.

Miller, who missed the team's playoff game against Ventura College, averaged 8.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Also a three-point threat, she was tied for third on the team with 18 three-pointers. Miller scored in double-figures 10 times, including a season-high 19 points that was highlighted by five three-pointers, against El Camino College. Additionally, she posted a season-high eight rebounds against Solano College and Los Angeles Harbor College, as well as a season-high five assists in back-to-back games against El Camino College and Los Angeles Harbor.

The team's leading scorer (13.8 ppg), McIntyre also lead the team with 49 three-pointers and shot 80.5 percent (91-for-113) from the free throw line. She averaged 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, while scoring a season-high 24 points two games in a row against Solano College and Riverside City College. McIntyre had at least 20 points six times on the year and scored in double figures 17 times. In a game against East Los Angeles College, she connected on a season-high six three-pointers and converted at least one three-pointer in 24 of the 26 games in which she played. McIntyre pulled down a season-high seven rebounds against both Solano College and Los Angeles Harbor College and dished out a season-high five assists in three different games.

Saldivar was the Falcons second leading scorer at 8.4 points a game, while also leading the team in assists (2.4) and also averaged 3.4 rebounds a game. Sh scored over 20 points in a game three times, which included 28 against Los Angeles Harbor College on 11-of-17 shooting. She also netted four three-pointers in the game and followed that two games later with four more in a 21-point effort against El Camino College. Aggressive on both ends of the court, Saldivar pulled down eight rebounds against East Los Angeles College and also had five rebounds in six games. She also dished out a season-high five assists against Long Beach City.

A two-year starter, Flores averaged 8.0 points and 5.9 rebounds a game this season, while leading the team with 18 blocked shots. Sh scored a season-high 23 points against Los Angeles Harbor College and posted double-digit numbers nine times on the season. A three-point threat, Flores was second on the team with 25 three-pointers, and hit four of them against Grossmont College and Allan Hancock College. Flores recorded a pair of double-doubles on the season against Chaffey College and Los Angeles Harbor, which included a season-high 11 rebounds. She also recorded a season-high four assists against Riverside City College.
