Competing in the three-day South Coast Conference Championships, the Cerritos College women's swimming team is in third place after the first day with 216 team points. The second day of the championships, which is taking place at East Los Angeles College, gets underway at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

Amassing 64 of the team's points were their third place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay. In the first event of the day, the quartet of Kaya Glynn, Angelina Romero, Isabella Berdote and Jillian Crockett turned in a time of 1:49.86, while Romero, Angelica Arcos, Glynn and Crockett capped off the day with their third place time of 4:46.77 in the 400-yard medley relay.

Also a big point-producer for the Falcons was the 50-yard freestyle with four swimmers earning points for the team. Crockett placed seventh with a time of 27.33, with Arcos right behind in eighth place at 29.05. Not far behind were Samantha Wisher (29.77) and Alexis Wholey (30.20) in 10th and 11th places, respectively.

Glynn recorded the team's best individual finish, as her time of 2:28.27 earned her a fourth place result in the 200-yard IM, with Jania Gregorio coming in 11th place in 2:47.30 to earn more points. The 500-yard freestyle saw Romero post a sixth place time in 5:50.03, with Karina Oliveros coming in 11th place at 6:04.11.
