After a career in which she won a state championship in the discus and then qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, former Cerritos College track and field athlete Whitney Ashley was inducted into the 3C2A Hall of Fame. Ashley won the state title in the discus for the Falcons in 2008 before going on to win the NCAA National Championship for San Diego State University in 2012. Although she wasn't on hand to receive her award at the Southern California Track & Field Championships, which were held at Cerritos in May, women's coach Michael Allen was able to present her with the award at the Olympic Trials in Oregon in June.

According to Allen, Ashley wanted to express her appreciation to everyone at Cerritos College, who she feels was the stepping stone to all of the success in her career.

Ashley currently works in the Sports Information Office at Arizona State University after spending two years working for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee in the Athlete Marketing and Relations Office.
