Cerritos College sophomore water polo player Katherine Gabayeron (Cerritos HS) scored five goals to help lead the team to an 11-2 South Coast Conference win at Pasadena City College on Wednesday. The win by the Falcons (10-1, 3-0), who are ranked #3 in the state, sets up the team's entry into the San Diego Mesa Tournament, which will take place over the weekend.

A very physical game that included 15 exclusions and a pair of game ejections, Cerritos took a 4-0 lead in the second quarter, with Gabyeron accounting for three of the goals, while freshman Angelica Hernandez (El Rancho HS) earned a great deal of attention and drew three ejections against Lancer (2-5, 0-3) players. She finished the game with three goals, while freshman Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) added a pair of goals.

Sophmore goalkeeper Sharon Ku (Cerritos HS) turned away 10 shots in the win, while the trio of Gabayeron, freshman Teresa Zuniga (California HS) and freshman Bianca Serrano (Cerritos HS) all had a pair of steals.
