The Cerritos College men's swimming team won six events to help them come in second place at the Waterman Festival on Saturday. The Falcons won three individual races and three relay races to help them compile 676 team points and were just edged by host Palomar College, who won the meet with 694 points. The team will now swim in the SCC Pentathlon at Rio Hondo College next Friday and then the divers will compete at El Camino College on Saturday.

Winning events for Cerritos were sophomore Joshua Owens (Kennedy HS) and Marlon Moreno (Virgen del Roario, Venezuela), along with freshman Jason Ly (Villa Park HS). Owens turned in the best time in the 100-yard butterfly at 54.75, with freshman Angel Rojas placing third in 56.55. Moreno beat the field in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.06, which was two seconds ahead of his closest competition. Ly's win came in the 100-yard backstroke, as his time of 56.21 was well ahead of the field. Sophomore Albert Kim (Cerritos HS) took second place in 1:00.53.

Moreno also took second place in the 50-yard freestyle (22.80), while sophomore Diego Lucas (Warren HS) placed third in the 400-yard IM in a time of 5:01.46. Sophomore diver Estevan Abrajan (Bellflower HS) compiled 95.90 points in the 1-meter event to come in second place.

The Falcons also came in first place in the200-yard medley relay, 400-yard freestyle relay and 350-yard backstroke relay.
