After the first three relay events were completed at the South Coast Conference Championships, a Cerritos College men's swimming quartet was able to claim ownership of all three titles. The foursome of Joshua Owens (Kennedy HS), Jason Ly (Villa Park HS), Angel Rojas (Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) and Marlon Moreno (Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela) opened the first day with first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley races. On Friday, the quartet recorded a time of 1:37.38 to win the 200-yard medley relay and came very close to breaking a 17-year old school record. Back in 1998, the team of Ryan Kelly, Rolando Ochoa, Andy Garcia and Raul Corral posted a time of 1:37.28 at a conference meet.

Two days into the meet and the Falcons are sitting in second place with 405 points and trail only Mt. San Antonio College, who has amassed 524 points. The team will return to East Los Angeles College on Saturday for the final day.

The only relay event Cerritos hasn't won so far is the 800-yard freestyle relay, which came in fifth place in a time of 7:41.41. That team consisted of Diego Lucas (Warren HS) , Albert Kim (Cerritos HS), Daniel Loeza (Hamilton HS) and Isiah Gayton (Whittier HS).

In individual races, Owens earned a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.25, with Rojas in fifth place in a time of 53.40. Moreno just missed out on winning the 100-yard breaststroke, as his time of 59.70 was beaten only by Jacob Altree of Mt. San Antonio (59.07). Cerritos swimmers took third place and fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke with Ly (54.69) and Kim (57.75). Lucas took seventh place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:38.20, while Gayton came in seventh place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52,32. Freshman diver Nicholas Silos (Servite HS) earned second place points for the team when he accumulated 129.70 points in the 1-meter diving.
