On the strength of eight individual first place finishes and two relay wins, the Cerritos College men's swimming team swept their South Coast Conference meet on Friday afternoon. The Falcons defeated rival Long Beach City College, 148-122 and handed Rio Hondo College a 211-53 defeat. The team will travel to El Camino College next Friday to take on the Warriors and East Los Angeles College in a conference meet.

The day ended the way it started - with the Falcons winning a relay race. In the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of Jason Ly (Villa Park HS), Marlon Moreno (Virgen del Rosario HS, Venezuela), Joshus Owens (Kennedy HS) and Angel Rojas (Fray Luis Amigo HS, Venezuela) posted a time of 1:39.14 to win by six seconds. The same foursome finished up the meet by recording a time of 3:17.71 in the 400-yard freestyle relay and edged the Vikings by two seconds.

In between, the Falcons won eight individual events, with Moreno, Owens and Ly each coming in first place in two events each. Moreno won the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.59, which was nine seconds ahead of the second place finisher, with his time of 48.64 in the 100-yard freestyle edging out Rojas time of 49.36.

In the 200-yard butterfly, it was the time of 1:59.92 by Rojas that was 10 seconds ahead of teammate Isiah Gayton (Whittier HS) for second place. Owens turned in a first place time of 22.02 in the 50-yard freestyle and he doubled up with a winning time of 52.79 in the 100-yard butterfly. Teammate Daryl DaSilva (Cerritos HS) took third place in 59.38. Ly picked up a win in the 200-yard IM (2:04.19), while he took third place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.05.

Sophomore Albert Kim (Cerritos HS) win the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 58.82, while Diego Lucas (Warren HS) finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:23.89) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.38). Nicholas Silos (Servite HS) compiled 87.80 points to win the 1-meter and 3-meter diving event.
