In their first competition of the season, the Cerritos College men's track and field team competed at the Mt. San Antonio Season Opener on Friday. The Falcons excelled in the relays and field events, picking up a first second and third place in field events, as well as two third places in relay events. They will take a couple weeks off from competition before hosting the Combined Events/Relays Meet on February 26-27.

In the hammer, freshman Aladdin Abuhadba (Downey HS) posted a first place distance of 37.55 meters, with sophomore teammate Daniel Polanco (California HS) recording a throw of 36.00 meters, which put him in fourth place. In other throwing events, freshman Isaiah Chavez (Downey HS) earned third place in the shot put with a toss of 13.48 meters.

Sophomore long jumper Vincent Calhoun (Long Beach Poly HS) came in first place when his fourth jump went 7.05 meters. He beat out teammates Terrell Coleman (Downey HS) and Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS), who turned in third and fourth place distances of 6.71 meters and 6.62 meters, respectively.

Cerritos had a pair of 400-meter relays teams competing, with one of them taking third place in 44.13, which edged the other with a fourth place time of 44.24. In the 1600-meter relay, the Falcons posted a fifth place time of 3:31.54, while the 800-meter sprint medley relay team recorded a time of 1:3312 to come in third place.
