Hosting the Cerritos Combined Events & Relays Meet over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field team performed well in field events. The Falcons, who had limited entires in distance races, showed their strength in the field events with one win, two second place finishes and four third place finishes. The team will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic on Friday, which will consist of seven schools.

In the hammer, sophomore Brian King (Cerritos HS) came in first place with a distance of 45.67 meters, with teammates Aladdin Abuhadba (Downey HS), Isaiah Chavez (Downey HS) and Daniel Polanco (California HS) finishing in third through fifth places, respectively. In the javelin, sophomore Tristian Escobar (Bell Gardens HS) earned second place with a throw of 52.98 meters, while Chavez finished in fourth place in the shot put at 13.27 meters.

Sophomore hurdler Dario Robinson (Schurr HS) recorded a second place time of 14.35 to come in second place in the race, which was also the third best time in school history. In the 400-meter HH, freshman Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) took third place with a time of 56.93, while Robinson recorded a fifth place time of 58.63. Pole vaulter Andrew Hladek (Liberty, NV) cleared 4.23 meters to come in seventh place.

In the two-day decathlon, freshman Luis Gonzalez (Bellflower HS) posted a second place total of 53.90 points, which bested all other community college competitors. He turned in the fastest 100-meters (11.39) for 776 points, while his long jump of 6.30 meters earned him 652 points. His time of 15.80 in the 110-meter HH was the fastest and got him 755 points.

In the relay events, Cerritos won the 400-meter relay with a time of 42.78, as well as the 1600-meter relay with a clocking of 3:30.92 and 3200-meter relay when they turned in a time of 8:19.20.
