Concluding a weekend trip up north, the Cerritos College men's track and field team spent Saturday at both the Oregon Relays and Pacific (OR) Open. The Falcons will take a little time off before they gear up for the South Coast Conference Prelims at Long Beach City College on April 26.

Oregon Relays - After a first day of solid results, the second day was more of the same, as Cerritos competed with some very good four-year competition. Highlighting the day was the second place showing of sophomore hurdler Dario Robinson (Schurr HS). In the 110-meter HH, he posted the second fastest time in school history at 14.27, which also earned him second place in the meet. The winning time of 13.48 was a meet record set by University of Oregon's Devon Allen, who won the NCAA championship two seasons ago and owns the second fastest time in NCAA history (13.16). Robinson also inched a little closer to the school record of 14.15 set by Juan Ward in 2015.

Also earning a second place finish on the day was freshman Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) in the triple jump, with a distance of 14.72 meters. He trailed only Chance Whitehurst from the University of Oregon with a winning distance of 15.17 meters. Cerritos also received a fourth place time of 3:19.03 in the 1600-meter relay by the quartet of freshmen Zarin Redfud (Paramount HS), Jah'mal King (Bellflower HS), Jahmani Long (Gahr HS) and Reginald Winans (Long Beach Poly HS). Sophomore pole vaulter Andrew Hladek (Liberty, NV HS) improved on his season best height when he cleared 4.56 meters, which earned him a sixth place finish.

In the 400-meter relay, the Falcons turned in a 10th place time of 42.63 by Clifford Scott (Carson HS), Nick Garcia (St. Anthony HS), Ricardo Thomas (Warren HS) and Terrell Coleman (Downey HS). Garcia also ran the 100 meters and posted a time of 10.95 to come in 14th place. Sophomore Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS) competed in the 800 meters and ran a strong 1:53.40 to come in 11th place.

Pacific (OR) Open - Several Falcons competed in the Pacific (OR) Open and had a couple of strong finishes. Sophomore thrower Brian King (Cerritos HS) came in a close second place in the hammer with a throw of 47.42 meters (155' 7 1/2"), which was a foot shy of the first place distance of 47.72 meters (156' 7") by Triton Pitassi from the University of Portland. King finished in 11th place in the discus with a toss of 35.96 meters. Sophomore Alejandro Rios (Chino HS) also competed in a pair of events. He turned in a sixth place time of 4:10.44 in the 1500 meters and followed that with a seventh place time of 2:02.39 in the 800 meters.
