Locked in a tight game with host Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College men's basketball team came from behind for a 79-75 win. The Falcons (9-13) will now host Pasadena City College in a 5:00 p.m. game on Friday.

Trailing 73-72 after the Beavers (4-17) converted a three-point play, freshman Jay Merriweather (Temescal Canyon HS) drained a three-pointer with 1:02 remaining to put the team ahead. LATT missed a three-pointer and was called for a foul, which sent sophomore Jeff Gonzalez (Riverside Poly HS/Riverside City College) to the free throw line. He netted both for a four-point lead with :23 seconds remaining.

Ashwell Boyd made a pair of free throws for the Beavers, but Gonzalez and sophomore Josh Bell (Long Beach Wilson HS) each added one of two from the charity stripe to close out the win.

The game had 14 lead changes and 11 ties, with the largest lead being six points in the first half for both teams. Gonzalez led the Falcons with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Bell had his best all-around game of the season with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) finished with 16 points, with freshman point guard Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS) providing eight points, four rebounds and three assists in the win.
