In their 67-60 South Coast Conference South Division win over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday, the Cerritos College men's basketball team nailed their outside shots in the second half to help them post the win. The Falcons (10-15, 3-2) turned a 48-42 lead with 8:29 left in the game into a 13-point lead after a pair of three-pointers enabled them to put some distance between them and the Seahawks (12-8, 2-3). The team will now travel to Los Angeles Harbor College for a 5:00 p.m. game on Wednesday.

Sophomore guard Taylor Douglas (Mayfair HS) netted a jumper with 11:44 left in the second half to give Cerritos a 42-41 lead, their first of the game. Three minutes later, sophomore Jeff Gonzalez (Riverside Poly HS/Riverside City College) scored on an offensive rebound and layup to put the team up, 47-42. But it was the consecutive three-pointers from freshman Earl Morgan (Dominguez HS) and Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS) that pushed the lead to 60-47 with 4:00 left that gave them their biggest lead of the night.

LA Harbor was able to close to within 62-58 with les than a minute left after a couple of turnovers. But sophomore Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) netted 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Trailing by as many as nine points in the second half, the Falcons slowly crept closer to LA Harbor. And when the Seahawks hit a shooting slump, Cerritos was right there to take that momentum and pull ahead.

Winn finished the night with 18 points, while freshman Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS) had a great game with his 13 points and four rebounds. Gonzalez finished the night with nine points and 10 rebounds, with sophomore Josh Bell (Long Beach Wilson HS) adding eight points and nine rebounds. Dharion Tanner led the Seahawks with 25 points.
