Facing a team that has struggled as much as you have can result in any kind of outcome. For the Cerritos College men's basketball team, they watched Los Angeles Southwest College break the century mark, as they shot 59% from the field and recorded a 102-77 decision. The points allowed by the Falcons (10-16, 3-3) was the most since Ohlone College scored 108 points in 2010. The team will play their final home game on Friday at 5:00 p.m. when they host El Camino College.

From the outset, Cerritos seemed to be off their game, as they surrendered the first eight points. They were down by double-digits seven minutes into the game and would never get into a rhythm.

As for the Cougars (8-14, 1-5), they had three players score over 20 points and scored on high percentage shots in the paint, which accounted for 52 of their points. Reggie Fields (24 points, 14 rebounds), Layon Gooden (23) and Justin Cobb (20) led the way for LA Southwest, as their starting five accounted for 93 of their points on the night.

Cerritos received 12 points from sophomore Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS), while freshmen Jay Merriweather (Temescal Canyon HS) and Earl Morgan (Dominguez HS) posted 11 and 10 points off the bench, respectively. Sophomore Josh Bell (Long Beach Wilson HS) added 10 points and six rebounds, with sophomore Jeff Gonzalez (Riverside Poly HS/Riverside City College) finished with eight points and seven caroms.
