The Cerritos College men's basketball team improved to 9-2 on the year after a convincing 75-51 win over host Allan Hancock College on Saturday. The Falcons, winners of four games in a row, will now compete in the College of the Sequoias Tournament, with their first game against Shasta College slated for 4:00 p.m. next Friday.

Through the first 6:41 of the game, Cerritos opened up a 14-1 lead, with both Demetrius Thomas (Bassick, CT HS/Porterville College) and Keshaun Mack (Long Beach Jordan HS/Antelope Valley College) each scoring five points and netting a three-pointer. However, the Bulldogs (6-4) would close the gap to 28-21 with 2:57 left in the first half. Neither team would score the rest of the half, while they combined to go 0-for-6 from the field with three turnovers.

In the second half, the drought for Allan Hancock continued, as they needed another 4:17 before scoring. By then, the Falcons had opened a 34-21 lead and improved that to 47-26 with 12:06 left and then cruised to the win.

Thomas, who was 11-of-16 from the field, led all scorers with 27 points and added 10 rebounds, while Mack posted 17 points and eight rebounds. The win allowed the bench to make more contributions, with freshman Anthony Coleiro (Victory Rock Prep, FL HS) making the most of it with 10 points, three rebounds and a pair of three pointers. Sophomore Jonathan Guzman (Paramount HS) accounted for seven points and four rebounds, while freshman Cody Wilkes (La Mirada HS) added six points. Despite the big win, only six players scored for Cerritos on the night.
