Playing a tight first half with host Porterville College on Saturday night, the Cerritos College pulled away in the second half for a 62-47 win. Winners of two in a row, the Falcons (2-2) will travel to East Los Angeles College for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference game on Wednesday.

Helping Cerritos take the lead against the Pirates was sophomore Marcel Hayes (Long Beach Poly HS), who led the team with 17 points off the bench, while he also pulled down six rebounds. Relying on a balanced offensive attack without the services of sophomore point guard Dillon Botts (Mayfair HS), the Falcons also received 10 points and nine rebounds from sophomore center Spencer Ezewiro (Paramount HS/Moberly Area, MO CC).

Inserted into the starting lineup, freshman Brian DeMedio (Warren HS) made the most of his opportunity, as he contributed six points, four steals and a pair of assists, with sophomore Jordun Willard (Paramount HS) adding nine points and eight caroms. The team also received eight points from sophomores Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS) and Andrew Mata (Schurr HS/Holy Cross, IN College), with Henry also dishing out five assists.
