Using their outside shooting prowess, the visiting Citrus College men's basketball team knocked down 10 three-pointers in handing Cerritos College an 88-73 setback on Friday night. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Falcons (7-4), who will now travel to College of the Sequoias for a 5:00 p.m. game next Thursday.

The long range jumpers were falling for Citrus in the first half, which accounted for seven of their three-pointers, while they also went to the free throw line 17 times. The Falcons, who trailed 23-12 in the first half, received consecutive baskets from sophomore Blake Brewer (Orange Lutheran HS) and Marcel Hayes (Long Beach Poly HS) before the Owls responded with 10 consecutive points.

Down, 52-40 at intermission, the Falcons surrendered the first four points of the second half, and struggled at scoring points in bunches, as the Owls out-rebounded them, 48-39. Cerritos experienced success at the free throw line in the second half, as they converted 14-of-15 with freshman Elijah Andrews (Wellington, FL HS) knocking down six in as many tries.

Sophomore Spencer Ezewiro (Paramount HS/Moberly Area, MO CC) led the team with 14 points off the bench to go along with eight rebounds, with Brewer making 5-of-9 field goals for 10 points and added five caroms. Cerritos received 44 points off their bench, while the duo of sophomores Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS) and Andrew Mata (Schurr HS/Holy Cross, IN College) each finished with nine points, while Henry also dished out seven assists and pulled down five rebounds.
