Taking on a pair of Northern California powers, the Cerritos College men's basketball team had their hands full over the weekend. The Falcons (7-6) dropped an 82-53 game to College of the Sequoias on Thursday and then suffered a 79-60 loss to Fresno City College. Looking to snap a three-game losing skid, Cerritos will host Los Angeles Pierce College at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Cerritos vs. College of the Sequoias: In a game were not much went right for the Falcons, the team dropped a 29-point decision to the Giants. Cerritos had their difficulties shooting both from the field and at the free throw line, while their 21 turnovers hurt them equally. Sophomore center Spencer Ezewiro (Paramount HS/Moberly Area, MO CC) turned in a double-double with his 14 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman guard Elijah Andrews (Wellington, FL HS) came off the bench to contribute 11 points, four assists and four rebounds. The team, who was playing without Blake Brewer (Orange Lutheran HS), saw sophomore Andrew Mata (Schurr HS/Holy Cross, IN College) contribute seven points and made the team's lone three-pointer.
Cerritos vs. Fresno City: Against the Rams, the Falcons found themselves behind once again and were unable to come back before suffering the loss. They trailed by eight points at halftime, with Fresno slowly extending their lead and ended up pulling away. The trio of Mata, as well as sophomores Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS) and Marcel Hayes (Long Beach Poly HS) each scored 14 points for Cerritos. Mata knocked down four three-pointers and added four rebounds, with Henry dishing out six assists. Ezewiro finished with six points and three rebounds before fouling out.
