He took fourth place in the 200-yard IM with a clocking of 2:07.32, with sophomore teammate Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS) not far behind in seventh place at 2:08.40. Chavez led the Falcons in the 100-yard freestyle with a ninth place time of 51.74, with Hurtado right behind him at 52.12, good for 10th place.

Cerritos opened the day with a fifth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a quartet of Chavez, Richard Montanez (Baldwin Park HS), Hurtado and Matt Farias (Downey HS) with a time of 1:48.17.
