For the first time this season, the Cerritos College men's tennis team was defeated in a match. The Falcons, who opened the year with a pair of wins, were defeated on Tuesday by visiting San Diego Mesa College, 7-2. They will look for their third win of the year on Friday when they travel to Saddleback College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

The team did receive another strong performance at the top of the singles ladder, with freshman Nathan Eshmade (King's Baptist HS, Australia) recording a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rodrigo Santibanez. And aside from his 8-6 doubles win with freshman Mathew Espiritu (Long Beach Millikan HS), those were the only victories the Falcons could procure against the Olympians.

Sophomore Todd Jenkins (Cabrillo HS) opened his #3 singles match with a 6-2 victory over James Tenbruech. But after losing the second set, 6-3, Jenkins was unable to have any answers in the third set and was defeated, 6-2. Aside from those two matches, Cerritos won only four games over the other four singles matches.

In doubles play, Jenkins and freshman Maurice Grijalva (Gardena HS) played a solid match, but dropped an 8-5 decision.
