Cerritos College freshmen track and field athletes Omar Torres (Warren HS) and Aaron Martin (Carson HS) will be representing the college when they compete in the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The duo will travel to Des Moines, IA on June 19-23, with Torres running in the 10,000 meters and Martin competing in the decathlon. The top finishers will advance to Colombia, MO on August 23-25.

Torres posted a personal best time of 31:25.82 at the CCCAA State Championships to come in sixth place, while he also finished sixth at the Southern California Championships and second in the South Coast Conference Championships. His time at the state championships was the third fastest in school history, and will go up against 27 other runners in the event.

As for Martin, his 5919 total points in the decathlon earned him a sixth place finish in the Southern California Championships, while he finished in 11th place finish at the CCCAA State Championships. Martin's stronger events have been the 1500 meters and javelin.
