Running the four-mile course at Central Park in Huntington Beach on Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team came in a tie for eighth place. The Falcons compiled 234 team points and tied with South Coast Conference opponent El Camino College. The trio of Riverside (60 team points), College of the Canyons (66 team points) and Saddleback College (67 team points) battled it out for first place. Next Friday, the team will run in the Brubaker Invitational at Irvine Regional Park.

Pacing Cerritos on the day was Faustino Diaz (Warren HS), whose time of 22:28.8 earned him a 32nd overall finish out of 180 runners. Part of a large pack, and not far behind, was Carlos Mendoza (Highland HS), who finished the course in 22:35.2, which put him in 39th place, with Ricardo Cano (Schurr HS) taking 46th place with a time of 22:51.7. There were 39 runners who finished the race within a one minute time period, with those three Falcons part of that pack.

A trio of runners all checked in within five seconds of each other in the next wave of runners. Anthony Lopez (Downey HS) earned 57 team points with his time of 23:12.4, while Alejandro Rios (Chino HS) rounded out the team scoring with his time of 23:15.1, which put him in 60th place. The third Cerritos runner was Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS), who finished in 23:17.8.

The Falcons had 14 other runners compete in the day and some of them included Jerson Ramirez (Jefferson HS; 24:14.0), Diego Del Carmen (Huntington Park HS; 24:18.9), Joshua Reinis (Kennedy HS; 24:26.5), Ryan Lopez (Montebello HS; 24:31.5), Sergio Hernandez (Canyon HS; 24:42.2), Didier Pina (Schurr HS; 24:48.8), James Yanez (Long Beach Wilson HS; 24:55.5), Diego Munoz (Paramount HS; 25:12.7), Daniel Garcia (Whittier HS; 25:30.5) and Erick Ayala (Downey HS; 25:55.5).
