Western HS: Posted a personal best time of 16:17 at the Woodbridge Invitational as a senior and was named his team’s Most Valuable Player… As a member of the track and field team, he was ranked among the Top 3 runners in Orange County and was a CIF Masters Qualifier… Placed fourth at the CIF Championships in the 800 meters and ran a leg of the 1600-meter relay team… Won the Empire League championship in both events, while he was a CIF Qualifier in the 800 meters his junior year after winning the league title… Posted personal best times in the 400 meters (51.0), 800 meters (1:56.39) and 1600 meters (4:30.0)… Named the Mid-Distance Most Valuable Player… Was coached in cross country by former Cerritos cross country and track star Munir Kahssay…..

Personal: Most memorable moments were when he ran his personal best time in the 800 meters at the CIF Masters Meet and when he broke the 2:00 mark in the 800 meters for the first time… Is working on a minor in physics and would like to transfer to UC Irvine… Is studying to be an engineer… Hobbies include music, traveling and photography… Nicknamed “Chav”… Has three siblings – Angie (20), Gabby (16) and Melanie (7)… Is the son of Gabriel and Rosario Chavarria… Born in Orange, CA on July 7, 1999…..
