At the Southern California Championships on Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team placed seventh. Running at Central Park in Santa Clarita, the Falcons compiled 227 points, with three schools from the South Coast Conference finishing ahead of them. Mt. San Antonio College won the title with 34 team points, with Los Angeles Harbor College taking third place with 128 points and El Camino College edging them with a sixth place total of 205 points. Cerritos will now cap off the season at the CCCAA State Championships, which will take place at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 18.

Of the five runners that helped build the team score, four of them shaved time off from their first time running the four-mile course from back in September at the SoCal Preview Meet. Sophomore Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) was the only one of the top five not to improve on his time, but still led the team with a 28th place finish in a time of 22:05.4. Right on his heels was sophomore Luis Munoz (Downey HS), who locked in a time of 22:09.3, which earned him a 33rd place overall and was five seconds better than his first showing on the course. Taking 51st place overall out of the 196 entrants was freshman Miguel Lopez (Downey HS), whose time of 22:26.9 was seven seconds better than back in September.

Accounting for the team's final two point-producing runners, freshmen Adrian Casas (Gahr HS) and Angel Chavarria (Western HS) crossed the finish line within six seconds of each other. Casas took 56th place overall after taking :23 seconds off his original time and posted a clocking of 22:28.6, with Chavarria knocking :38 seconds off his previous time and placed 62nd with a time of 22:34.2.

Also competing for the Falcons on the day were freshman Jamal Awad (Warren HS), who came in 105th place with a time of 23:18.2, while freshman Alberto Cano (Norwalk HS) recorded a time of 23:21.1, which put him in 109th place.
