With a chance to leave Chaffey College on Friday night with a win, the Cerritos College women's basketball team missed a last-second shot that could have given them the win. Instead, the Falcons (7-5) left with a 57-56 loss to the Panthers (4-8). The team will get a week off before entering the Fullerton Tournament, where they will face the host Hornets at 3:00 p.m. on December 18.

Trailing, 57-53 with less than a minute left, freshman Brianna Flores (Norwalk HS) hit a three-pointer with :45 seconds left on the clock. The Falcons regained possession of the ball, and with :05 seconds left, freshman Ilani Avila (Downey HS) missed a layup that would have put the team in front. Chaffey missed a pair of free throws after Cerritos fouled, but could not get off another shot.

Cerritos opened up a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and after freshman Ashley Miller (Paramount HS) connected on a three-pointer with 9:10 remaining in the first half, they held a 22-15 lead. When sophomore Precious Yerena (Downey HS) drained a jumper for three points, it gave Cerritos a 27-22 lead with 4:56 left. But that would be all they would score the remainder of the half, as Chaffey accounted for the final seven points for a 29-27 halftime lead.

The final lead of the game for the Falcons came with 5:29 left in the third quarter after a Dominique Harrison (John Glenn HS) layup. Once Chaffey regained the lead, they would not relinquish it.

Flores led the Falcons with 16 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Therese Zekajj (Legacy HS) added seven points and a team-leading nine rebounds. Freshman Izabella Apodaca (La Serna HS) added nine points, while Miller finished with eight points off the bench
