Hosting their first match of the season, the Cerritos College wrestling team posted a 48-0 Southwest Conference win over Rio Hondo College on Wednesday night. The state's top-ranked Falcons improved to 14-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference action. The team will conclude their conference schedule next Wednesday when they host Mt. San Antonio College in a 7:00 p.m. match.

In the win over the Roadrunners, the Falcons were led by five wins by pinfall, along with four major decisions. Freshman 197-pound David Van Weems (Corona Centennial HS) broke open a 6-3 first period lead and led 6-4 before a reversal with :22 seconds left in the second period gave him an 8-4 cushion.
