Taking on one of the best teams in Southern California, the Cerritos College women's soccer team came out on the wrong end of a 5-0 decision on Tuesday. The loss by the Falcons was their first in South Coast Conference play, as they drop to 4-7-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference action. The team will host Pasadena City College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

There were portions of the first half where the Falcons took control of the game, but were just unable to secure that final pass for a goal. On the other side, the Roadrunners (11-1-0, 5-0-0) benefitted twice when Cerritos goalkeeper Anahi De Leon (Lynwood HS/East Los Angeles College) played a little too aggressively and had the ball bounce over her head as she attempted to shut down an offensive attack. On both goals, Rio Hondo saw their player staring at an open net after the ball got past De Leon. On the first goal, former Cerritos player Alessandra Ramirez, who was second on the team in 2019 with nine goals, lofted a long pass toward the Falcon net, with Camila Garcia there to tap in the goal after the aggressive keeper play.

It was almost the exact same play late in the first half, as Haily Romero sent a long ball that bounced over De Leon, with Alexis Macias able to score her first of three goals on the day to increase her season total to 26.

The Falcons did get a trio of shots on goal against the Roadrunners goalkeeper, with freshman Victoria Adame (North HS) getting the best scoring chance. In the second half, it was her cousin, Jaque Adame (North HS) who had a god look at the net.

De Leon played the first half and posted three saves, while freshman Cassandra Contreras (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) playing the second half and turned away four shots.
