Thanks to their six-game winning streak in South Coast Conference play, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has earned the #4-seed for the upcoming SCC tournament. The Falcons (7-8-4, 6-3-0), who defeated Los Angeles City College, 3-0 on Tuesday, will host #5-seeded El Camino College at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the 1st Round of the tournament. In their initial meeting back on October 29, Cerritos registered a 3-1 victory. For of the team's losses this season have been by one goal.

Cerritos opened the scoring on the day in the 28th minute when sophomore Madi Jones (Liberty HS) sent a pass through the LA City defense, where freshman Jenna Santos (St. Joseph HS) was there to lift a shot over the head of goalkeeper Evelyn Pinto for her fourth goal of the season.

The tally would hold up the remainder of the game, but the Falcons were able to add to their lead in the second half. Freshman Sariah Sanchez (La Sierra HS) netter her seventh goal of the season in the 61st minute when a pass from freshman Samara Gonzalez (Norwalk HS) found her in front of the net. It didn't take much for Sanchez to chip the ball into the net to make it a 2-0 Falcons lead.

Freshman Maiya Garcia (Gahr HS) accounted for the final goal of the game when she booted a left-footed penalty kick into the net in the 69th minute. It was her first goal of the season.

Helping the team record their second shutout in a row and fourth of the season were the tandem of sophomore Alexis Bakalar (Los Alamitos HS) and Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS).
