Competing in a pair of games in Sacramento this weekend, the Cerritos College women's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 decision against host American River College on Friday. After a day off on Saturday, the Falcons (0-1-1) will go up against San Joaquin Delta College at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Cerritos scored their lone goal of the game early in the second half, as freshman Sariah Sanchez (La Sierra HS) scored her first goal of the season after receiving a pass from freshman Maiya Garcia (Gahr HS). The goal came after American River (1-1-1) scored twice in a four-minute span to take a 2-0 lead. Two minutes after the Beavers scored their second goal, the Falcons cut their deficit in half, but could not come up with the tying goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS) turned away all seven first half shots, but surrendered a pair of goals in the second half.

Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS) led the Falcons with six of the team's 15 total shots.
