Playing their best soccer of the season, the Cerritos College women's soccer team won their fifth game in a row on Friday, as they shut out host Los Angeles Harbor College, 4-0. The Falcons (6-8-4, 5-3-0), who have outscored opponents, 18-3 during their winning streak, will close out their South Coast Conference schedule next Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. when they host Los Angeles City College. Cerritos currently sits in second place in the SCC South Division, while their 15 conference points puts them in position for the #4-seed for the upcoming South Coast Conference Tournament, which will include all 10 teams in the conference.

It only took the Falcons six minutes to get on the board, as they opened up a 3-0 first half lead. Sophomore Lissette Saucedo (Huntington Park HS), who assisted on the first two goals of the game, fed freshman Christina Rodriguez (Buena Park HS) for her first goal of the game. In the final 14 minutes of the first half, Cerritos scored two more times, with Saucedo connecting with freshman Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS), who found the back of the net for the first of her two goals on the day.

In extra time of the first half, Rivera knocked in her team-leading ninth goal, as she received a nice pass from freshman Maiya Garcia (Gahr HS) and finished off the play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Bakalar (Los Alamitos HS), who continues to play well in net, played the first 45 minutes and turned away three shots to earn the win. Playing the second half, freshman Trinidad Arizmendi (El Rancho HS) made a pair of saves in her 45 minutes of action.

Cerritos closed out the scoring in the 50th minute of the game when freshman Jenna Santos (St. Joseph HS) knocked in her third goal of the year when she finished off the play after sophomore Rubi Vazquez (Sierra Vista HS/Mt. San Antonio College) found her open in the 18-yard box.
