On Friday, the Cerritos College women's swimming team compiled 845 points at the Golden West Invitational to come in fourth place. The Falcons picked up 330 of those points in relay events, which included a fifth place, sixth place and two ninth place results. The team will compete in their first South Coast Conference dual meet on Friday at 12:30 p.m. when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College to take on the Mounties and El Camino College.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Valeria Barboza (Paramount HS), Andrea Macapagal (Sonora HS), Channon Owens (Kennedy HS) and Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) recorded a fifth place time of 1:53.47, with the 400-yard medley relay time of 5:03.75 earning a sixth place finish. That relay team consisted of Anna Herrera (Rowland HS), Barboza, Owens and Martinez.

In individual races, Owens placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:13.27, with Scarled Murillo (Lakewood HS) recording a seventh place time of 1:20.63. After posting he ninth fastest time in the 100-yard backstroke, Herrera recorded a sixth place time of 1:15.05 in the 100-yard backstroke in the finals, with Martinez finishing in 10th place in a close 50-yard freestyle. Places seventh through 11th all finished within a second of each other. She also earned 10th place in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.92.

It was a sixth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke for Barboza with a time of 1:21.65, while Owens finished fourth in the 200-yard IM in 2:42.14, with Andria Melendez (Downey HS) earning fifth place in 2:49.09. Desiree Estrada (Gahr HS) came in ninth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:24.93
