On Friday, the Cerritos College women's swimming team competed in their first South Coast Conference dual meet of the season. The Falcons won two events on the day and recorded a team split, defeating El Camino College, 189-75 and suffering a 184-95 loss to host Mt. San Antonio College. The team will travel to the Cuesta Invitational next weekend.

In addition to their two individual wins, Cerritos also posted six second place finishes on the day. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Valeria Barboza (Paramount HS) turned in a first place time of 1:18.53, while the Falcons also placed first and second in the 1-meter diving competition. Freshman Aliah Richardson (Paramount HS) compiled 117.20 points, with sophomore Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) finishing with 98.35 points to earn second place.

The quartet of Anna Herrera (Rowland HS), Barboza, Channon Owens (Kennedy HS) and Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) registered a second place time of 2:08.96 in the 200-yard medley relay in the first event of the day, while they capped off the meet with a second place time in the 400-yard freestyle relay. That team consisted of Andrea Macapagal (Sonora HS), Barboza, Desiree Estrada (Gahr HS) and Martinez, who turned in a time of 4:18.36.

Owens picked up second place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:36.90) and 100-yard butterfly (1:08.39), with Herrera's time of 2:38.02 in the 200-yard backstroke was less than a second off the first place time of 2:37.41 turned in by Breana Delgadillo of Mt. San Antonio. As a team, Cerritos also posted 10 third place finishes.
