Led by three individual wins from freshmen Carolina Medrano (Schurr HS) and Joanna Porras (Warren HS), the Cerritos College women's swimming team posted a 139-68 South Coast Conference win over host Pasadena City College on Friday. The win by the Falcons improved their conference record to 4-1, while they will compete in their final conference meet next Friday at Rio Hondo College against the Roadrunners and Long Beach City College.

In addition to their wins in individual races, the duo also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay team that came in first place. Medrano swam the first leg, followed by freshman Jahnavi Shah (Cerritos HS), Porras and freshman Lizbeth Ramirez (Sunny Hills HS), as they quartet recorded a time of 2:10.39. Medrano picked up a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a clocking of 12:47.86, while her time of 1:14.21 was 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the 100-yard backstroke. She closed out her day with a 2:43.25 clocking in winning the 200-yard backstroke.

As for Porras, her time of 2:18.58 was faster by :09 seconds over the second place finisher in the 200-yard freestyle, while she also edged out PCCs Yvette Rosales in the 200-yard butterfly. Porras touched up in 2:41.29, while Rosales finished in 2:42.38, and added a first place result in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:12.78.

Also earning wins in individual races on the day were Shah (3:17.13) in the 200-yard breaststroke and sophomore Karol Martinez (Warren HS) in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:54.17. The lone swimmer in the 500-yard freestyle, Ramirez was clocked in 6:43.08, with freshman Candice Garcia (Rosary HS) winning the 1-meter diving event as the lone entry.
