After suffering their first loss of the season, the Cerritos College women's tennis team made quick work of host Saddleback College (1-1) on Tuesday. The Falcons (3-1) posted a 9-0 shutout over the Gauchos, as they swept all six singles matches and dropped just one game in doubles. The team will travel to Westmont College, an NAIA school, on Thursday with an 11:00 a.m. start.

In addition to surrendering just one game on doubles action, the top five singles players combined to lose just four games. All three doubles pairings were playing together for the first time this season, with the tandem of sophomore Petra Such (Illyes Gyula, Hungary) and freshman Kseniia Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) earning an 8-0 score, as did freshman Moa Lindstrom (Dragonskolans Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) and sophomore Itzi Torres (ITESM CEM, Mexico/Kansas Wesleyan University). The Falcons third doubles pair, sophomores Diviana Bravo (Rosa de Jesus Cordero, Ecuador) and Mary Navalta (Norwalk HS) played to an 8-1 win. The pairings took place because the team's top player, sophomore Lisa Suzuki (Fujimigaoka, Japan/Seward County, KS CC), was given the day off.

Such moved into the #1 singles position, a spot she held during her freshman season, and recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win, as did Torres at #5. Posting a 6-0, 6-0 shutout was Prokopchuk in the #2 spot, while both Lindstrom and Bravo came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Navalta, in her second match of the year, recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win in the #6 spot on the ladder.
