In their Southern California Regional Team Playoff Quarterfinal match, the Cerritos College women's tennis team defeated San Diego City College, 5-0 on Tuesday. The Falcons (22-1) are seeded #1 and will now host #3-seeded Irvine Valley College, who defeated #6-seeded Santa Barbara City College, 5-2 in a quarterfinal match at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Needing only five team points in the playoffs to clinch a victory, Cerritos won the three doubles matches and then quickly secured a pair of singles victories to close out the Knights. In doubles play, recently crowned South Coast Conference champions Lisa Suzuki (Fujimigaoka, Japan/Seward County, KS CC) and Kseniia Prokopchuk (School 45, Ukraine) posted an 8-3 win, while Petra Such (Illyes Gyula, Hungary) and Moa Lindstrom (Dragonskolans Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) shut out their opponents, 8-0. The third win came when sophomores Itzi Torrez (ITESM CEM, Mexico/Kansas Wesleyan University) and Diviana Bravo (Rosa de Jesus Cordero, Ecuador) earned an 8-1 victory.

Suzuki, who also won the conference singles championship, closed out the team win with her 6-0, 6-2 victory in the #1 match, while Lindstrom shut out Natasha Vargas, 6-0, 6-0. The Falcons were leading in each of the other four singles matches after winning the first set.
