After a season where Cerritos College volleyball player Sonye Garcia finished with 94 kills, the right-side/defensive specialist has signed with William Woods University, a private college in Fulton, MO. The NAIA school has an enrollment of just 3,500 students.

Garcia added 55 digs and 10 blocks to her total as a sophomore and recorded a pair of nine-kill performances in both matches against East Los Angeles College. She finished with eight kills against Pasadena City College and registered three seven-kill matches. While on the back row, Garcia finished with seven digs against Saddleback College and had six in three other matches.

She will be joining an Owls team that went 15-17 in 2022 under first-year head coach Kandace Cook. They advanced to the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament before seeing their season come to an end. Garcia will be one of four upperclassmen defensive specialists on the team in 2023.
