On Friday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team needed just 62 minutes to defeat visiting Los Angeles City College. The Falcons (9-3, 4-3) posted a 25-8, 25-12, 25-7 South Coast Conference win for their fourth victory in a row. Ranked #24 in the state and sitting in a tie for fourth place in the South Coast Conference, Cerritos will play their next two matches on the road. They will travel to Mt. San Antonio College (9-7, 3-3) for a 6:00 p.m. match next Wednesday.

In the win over the Cubs (0-12, 0-7), the Falcons hit a season-high .419 with just four attack errors. They received kills from nine different players, with sophomore Erykah Scott (Bellflower HS) leading the team with 10 kills in 17 attempts with no errors.

Cerritos was able to score points in bunches against the Cubs, who struggled to handle the attack at the net of the Falcons. Sophomore Jayda Harris-Amete (La Mirada HS) drilled home eight kills, while adding a team-high 10 digs and contributed five service aces. Limited to just four kills, freshman Jasmine Soto (Schurr HS) posted six service aces, while freshmen Lillianna Peterson (California HS) and Brisa Cortez (Schurr HS) combined for seven kills in 14 attempts with no attack errors.

The lopsided win allowed the Falcons to rotate setters, with the trio of Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS), Giovanna Gomez (Bellflower HS) and Isabella Carrasco (Downey HS) combining for 29 assists.
