W. Cross Country: Cerritos earns eighth place finish at meet

Competing in the Brubaker Invitational on Friday at Irvine Regional Park, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in eighth place in the team standings. The Falcons compiled 242 team points with 13 schools competing on the day. The team will run in the Highlander Classic next Saturday at UC Riverside AG-OPS Course in Riverside.

Running the 5K course, freshman Grace Cervantes (Schurr HS) was the first Cerritos runner to cross the finish line, as she checked in with a time of 21:33.0, which put her in 31st place overall. Next up was sophomore Monica Bautista (El Rancho HS), who was clocked in 22:36.8, which placed her 52nd overall out of 97 runners. A trio of Falcons finished together to finish compiling the team scoring. Freshman Aileen Dominguez (La Mirada HS) turned in a 62nd place time of 23:07.0, with freshman Vanessa Garcia (Whittier HS) right behind her in 63rd place when she crossed the finish line in 23:08.3. The fifth team runner was sophomore Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS) with a 64th place time of 23:17.2.

Also running for the team on the say were freshman Glenn Nance (Gardena HS; 25.22.3; 76th place), freshman Julie Chou (Cerritos HS; 29:34.9; 92nd place) and Sariah Stephens (California HS; 30:14.8; 93rd place).
