The Cerritos College women's cross country season came to a close after a 19th place finish at the Southern California Championship on Friday at Don Knabe Regional Park in Cerritos. The Falcons compiled548 team points, which put them well off the pace of a top 14 team, which was the final place to advance to the CCCAA State Championships. It marks the first time in over a decade the Falcons didn't advance to the state championships.
Leading the team on the 5K run was Vanessa Garcia (Whittier HS), whose time of 21:41.3 put her in 110th place overall, with Glenn Nance (Gardena HS) right behind in 112th place with a time of 21:46.7. The were able to bunch their runners in the meet, but just couldn't pull ahead of any packs of runners, which would have improved their team score.
Monica Bautista (El Rancho HS) and Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS) finished right after each other, with Bautista posting a 119th place time of 21:57.9 and Lopez-Guman earning 120th place with her time of 22:02.0. The final two runners on the day for the Falcons were Aileen Dominguez (La Mirada HS), who posted a 128th place time of 22:24.9, with Adrianna Martinez (California HS) crossing the finish line in 23:28.6, which put her in 140th place out of 177 total runners.
