Locked in a 2-2 tie with Fullerton College on Thursday, the Cerritos College baseball team allowed four runs in the seventh inning and dropped a 6-2 score. The Falcons (3-6), who committed four errors on the day, saw three runs score after an error kept the inning alive for the Hornets (7-3). They are slated to travel to College of the Canyons for a noon game on Saturday.

With a runner on third base and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, sophomore Carlos Hernandez (Pioneer HS) came on in relief of freshman Micah Hee (Kamehameha, HI HS), who relieved freshman Gilbert Romero (Alhambra HS). Fullerton's Grant Woodward singled up the middle to break the 2-2 tie before a walk put runners at first and second base. On a fielder's choice, freshman shortstop Ramon Bramasco (Cathedral HS) threw the ball away on the attempted double play, which gave the Hornets runners on second and third base with two outs.

Freshman Joe Pacheco (Redlands East Valley HS) came in to pitch and was greeted with a two-run single by Ryan Aguirre for a 5-2 score. Chase Kerr added an RBI single to close out the scoring in the inning.

The Falcons did respond the top of the eighth inning and got one of the runs back, but left two runners on base. Sophomore second baseman Derrick Edwards (Mary Star of the Sea HS) singled with one out, while freshman outfielder Rolando Nichols (Serra HS) drew a walk and freshman first baseman Jesus Mercado (St. John Bosco HS) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Freshman third baseman Jorge Rodriguez (Bellflower HS) brought in the run with a bases loaded walk before freshman outfielder Dominic Bravo (Warren HS) grounded into a double play to end the threat.

Mercado drove in the team's first run in the fourth run with a double, with Bravo scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth inning after leading off with a single.
