On Tuesday, the Cerritos College baseball team hit a season-high three home runs in their 10-4 South Coast Conference South Division win over host Los Angeles Harbor College. The Falcons (13-23, 7-11) will look for their third win in a row, as they host the Seahawks (4-19-1, 7-10) in a 2:30 p.m. game at Kincaid Field on Thursday.

The teams traded solo home runs through the first four innings, with freshman third baseman Jorge Rodriguez (Bellflower HS) clubbing his first of the season in the top of the second inning. With the game tied at 2-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning, Cerritos broke through with three runs. Consecutive singles by freshman outfielder Micah Hee (Kamehameha, HI HS) and freshman catcher Christopher Gomez (South Torrance HS) put runners on first and third base for freshman outfielder Nick Penzetta (Kamehameha, HI HS), who drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

With the bases loaded and two outs, freshman outfielder Rolando Nichols (Serra HS) and Rodriguez drew consecutive walks to bring home runs for sophomore starting pitcher Erick Velasquez (Bell Gardens HS/ECC Compton Center). LA Harbor scored an unearned run in the bottom of the stanza and after Velasquez gave up a another single, he was replaced by freshman Joe Pacheco (Redlands East Valley HS), who struggled but got out of the inning.

After the fifth inning, Pacheco retired 10 of the next 11 batters. He walked three batters in the ninth inning and surrendered a run, but earned his first win of the season. Sophomore Edgar Velasquez (Montebello HS) came on to record the final out of the game with the bases loaded.

The Falcons added to their lead with a pair of unearned runs in the seventh inning, while Penzetta clubbed a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, his first of the year. Sophomore second baseman Derrick Edwards (Mary Star of the Sea HS) followed with his team-leading third home run of the year, a solo shot. Rodriguez, Gomez, Edwards and freshman shortstop Ramon Bramasco (Cathedral HS) all had two hits on the day.
